The American Enlightment and its Politics

Darren Staloff is Professor of early American history at the City College of New York as well as the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He is the former Chair of the History Department. Dr. Staloff received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Columbia University and had held fellowships from the Omohundro Institute for Early American History, the National Endowment of the Humanities, and the Garwood Family Fellowship at the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University. He is the author of a variety of articles and essays and two books, The Making of an American Thinking Class: Intellectuals and Intelligentsia in Puritan Massachusetts, and Hamilton, Adams, Jefferson: The Politics of Enlightenment and the American Founding.
